Barb McLean officially became the North Idaho coordinator for Project Linus on March 14, 2000. It just happened to be her birthday and she says it was the best birthday present she ever received! Near the end of 2000, she also became the coordinator for the Spokane, Washington area.

Barb has traveled and lived throughout many places in the world. The USAF family life introduced her to many situations that made lasting memories of the needs of children. In every address that Barb speaks, she shares her belief that "Every single person can make this a better world, every single day of the year, by doing something. Start with the universal language of a smile".

While in Calcutta India, she found herself in the Orphanage of Mother Teresa where she read a little poster, the words of which have lived in her heart, "We do not do great things but we do small things with great love".

My heart was thinking of you,
My hands knew what to do.

This blanket grew out of the love
I want to share with you.

I hope it will keep you warm,
and befriend you late at night.

I hope you'll come to love it
and be comforted by its sight.

Let this blanket wrap you in friendship,
and cover you in love.

Because this blanket was thinking of you,
long before it was even done.
